The Boling Bulldogs had a leisurely 10-1 home victory over the Van Vleck Leopards in seven innings Tuesday.
The Bulldogs (12-5, 3-1) trailed for half of an inning and then retook the lead and kept adding to it.
Boling’s offense scored in all six innings and they out hit Van Vleck 8-2, helping earn a third district win. The Bulldogs’ lone loss in district was by one run to Danbury. The Bulldogs are tied with Van Vleck and East Bernard with a 3-1 district record.
“We played a great game against Danbury and fought back after being down. We had a little trouble early on and we settled in. Hopefully, the next time we play them it will be for the district championship,” Bulldogs coach Brent Tritschler said. “Every player on the team continues to accept their roles for the better of the team and it’s making a difference because everyone is contributing to our wins. We beat Van Vleck 10-1 to get a leg up on the district. They were undefeated in district play. We played a very solid game with great pitching from Hayden (Albert) and timely hitting.”
Van Vleck, after a leadoff walk in the top of the first inning, bounced into back-to-back ground outs. A two-out double put the Leopards ahead 1-0. The Leopards loaded the bases before a final ground out ended Van Vleck’s threat.
The lead was short lived. In the bottom half of the inning, with the bases loaded and no outs, senior Colby Chilek tied the game 1-1 with a sac fly. Boling grabbed one more run before the inning ended.
Over the next six innings of work, the Boling pitching staff allowed five runners to reach base. Despite a couple of runners making it to third, no one else scored.
Bulldogs sophomore Hayden Albert started the game and went 5 2/3 innings allowing two hits and one earned run. Albert walked five batters but stuck out 10 Van Vleck batters, including striking out the side twice. Senior Brandon Zapalac came in for the final inning and a third and allowed no hits and struck out four.
Boling jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second after Zapalaac singled to bring home two runners. The Bulldogs added solo scores third, fourth and fifth innings. In their final at-bats in the sixth inning, they took advantage of two Van Vleck errors to bring home three more scores.
Chilek, Zapalac and Jaxson Urbanek all had two hit games.
The Bulldogs play Hempstead Monday on the road and they’ll come back home Thursday to take on Hitchcock.

With one out in the bottom of the first inning, sophomore Mianjel Hayes reached base and advanced to second on an error. She moved up to third with a steal. Junior Allie Floyd brought her home on an RBI groundout.
Boling had runners reach third base three more times.
