The East Bernard Brahmas lost their first game of the season to the Shiner Comanches on the road Friday, Sept. 18.
The overtime game was an offensive struggle as the 13-7 score would indicate.
East Bernard (2-1) scored the first points of the game, a Dallas Novicke touchdown at the 2:00 mark. Kicker Grant Prazak nailed the extra point for a 7-0 score.
Shiner scored before halftime with 3:42 remaining in the second quarter clock. Trevor Haynes rushed for a 37-yard TD, and the point after attempt tied the game.
As far as offenses went, EB earned 215 yards, respectively. The Novicke score on the ground was among 34 yards the quarterback gained off nine carries against Shiner. Devin Chapman led the Brahmas in rushing with 68 yards on 17 carries. Andrew Dirba had 13 carries and gained 46 yards, his longest rush 18 yards. Chapman also had an 18-yard tote.
Shiner earned 318 yards, most of it coming on the ground. Haynes had eight carries for 89 yards. Three other Comanche runners gained at least 10 carries each.
The game ended in a 6-6 tie. All Shiner needed to win was one overtime frame. The score came on a Doug Brooks 11-yard rush.
