The Boling Lady Bulldogs knew they were going to have a younger team this season. However, recently they added some experience with junior Allie Floyd returning after missing the start of the year.

Now with their full team, the Lady Bulldogs can start building chemistry and their on-court communication.

Some of that communication was on display Tuesday, Aug. 18 in their three-set win over the Wharton Lady Tigers. The Lady Bulldogs are now 2-3 on the season.

“(We’ve got better) on our passing on serve/receive,” senior libero Zacoryia Montalvo said. “We’ve communicated more on whose ball it is and how to get our passes to each other.”

Added coach Ashleigh Burnside: “(Passing) is something we’ve really worked on hard. We don’t have a big outside hitter like in the past so passing has to be there to be able to run our offense and keep it at a fast tempo.”

Freshman Savannah Savage played a big part in beating Wharton coming on strong in the final two sets. Despite not having a lot of experience returning, the young teen has helped.

“They’re doing better each practice and they’ve been working hard to be on (this) level,” Montalvo said.

The Lady Bulldogs will have two home games next week. They will play Ganado on Tuesday and match up with Sweeny on Friday.
