By the end of the District 24-3A campaign, the East Bernard Brahmas clinched a postseason berth by finishing third. Unfortunately for the Boling Bulldogs, they did not qualify for the playoffs.
Van Vleck (11-1) earned first place followed by Palacios (8-4), and East Bernard, which finished with an 8-4 record. The final team to qualify in fourth place was Tidehaven (7-5). Boling finished in fifth.
During the month of April, EBHS beat Palacios (4-3 score), lost to Tidehaven (3-1) and Van Vleck (11-1), beat Hitchcock (13-3), Danbury (4-3), Boling (6-3) and lost the district finale to Palacios (8-7).
In April, Boling’s wins came against Hitchcock (11-0) and Danbury (7-4). BHS lost the last four games of district to Palacios (13-3), Tidehaven (4-1), EBHS and Van Vleck (15-5).
EBHS, which enters the Class 3A Region 3 playoffs with a 12-7 overall record, has a three-game series in bi-district against Anderson Shiro beginning Wednesday, May 1 in East Bernard. Game time is 6 p.m. The second game is at Anderson Shiro on Thursday, May 2. At 6 p.m. The third game would be played Saturday, May 4 at a site to be determined by a coin flip.
Among the other district opponents to play their first round playoff games were Tidehaven against New Waverly, Van Vleck against Hempstead, and Palacios against Coldspring.
