Boling High School’s Preston Miller won a three-hour, five-minute match against a Central Heights players.

That was in the first round of his play during the Class 3A Regional Championships on Friday, April 19.

“Wow,” said BHS coach Johnathan Gibson. “To say we are proud of this kid is an understatement.”

Miller would win his first-round match, then defeat a Palestine Westwood player, who had beaten the third seed to advance to the second round. 

“That match was another grueling three-hour match that went to three sets,” Gibson said. “In the third round and championship match he ran up against the number one seed who was a state qualifier last year as a sophomore.” 

On Friday in a playback Miller was down 0-1 and evened it up at 1-1. He eventually won the third set to qualify for the state championships next month.
