We have completed our first full week of school and have been very busy preparing for the many events that we have going on. We have almost completed tournament and scrimmage season and we are steamrolling into regular season play; then from there we go into district.
I appreciate our student/athletes for working hard and for the effort they have given so far. Also, our coaches are doing a great job of preparing their kids for each contest. It is going to be an exciting year for the Wharton Tigers and our community.
Monday night, our WHS Volleyball teams competed against Palacios in Tiger Gym. It was a night filled with fight and determination for all involved. Our Freshman team won in two games, our JV teams won in three games, and our Lady Tiger Varsity team came back from a 0-2 deficit to defeat the Sharkettes 3-2. The last three games were won with a score of 25-21, 25-21, and 15-9. We had lots of energy and enthusiasm which led to the team executing great offense and defense. This was the first time our Lady Tigers have completely swept their opponents with all three teams, so we are looking forward to continuing that momentum into our other competitions.
Our Varsity Team left early this morning to travel to play in the Rice Tournament, and will continue in that tournament tomorrow as well.
Our Tennis team is currently playing in the Little State Tennis Tournament in Corpus Christi and will continue their matches tomorrow. We are anxiously awaiting their results.
Tonight, our WHS football teams will scrimmage at Hopper Stadium against Brazosport. The sub-varsity will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Varsity squad at 7:00 p.m. This will be the final tune up before the regular season begins next week at Sealy. We look forward to another opportunity to go out and get better.
Have a great weekend and always be proud to show your Tiger Pride!
