The Boling Bulldogs opened District 24-3A play Friday, Jan. 3 on the road and fell to the Hitchcock Bulldogs, 87-22.
Boling hung close early, but it couldn't maintain pace with Hitchcock players whose offense got hot in the second quarter and never cooled back down.
Four different Boling players scored in the first quarter however, Hitchcock had the lead, 11-9. Hitchcock came out with a 37-point second quarter and went into half leading 48-12.
Boling's offense wasn't able to answer the barrage of points from Hitchcock, which finished with 19 points in the third and a 20 point fourth.
Blake Savage led Boling with five points.
Boling will gets its opportunity to return the favor on Tuesday, Jan. 26, when it hosts the fellow Bulldogs.
According to their schedule the Boling Bulldogs will have a lot of days off as they have a bye Friday, Jan. 10.
They will then host Tidehaven on Friday, Jan. 17.
From then on, it will be nine consecutive district games without a bye.
BHS hopes to change its fortunes in district compared to the pre-district, where it earned one win.
Now that district play has begun, the Bulldogs will look to rekindle the fire that helped them beat Brazos, 30-23 on Dec. 7.
The Bulldogs will try to do what they can to go through district without losing a game.
Among the other district teams that suffered losses were Tidehaven and Palacios.
