Tiger Fans!

Happy Friday, and happy last day of the first semester of school! This semester has seemed to flown by, and once the break is over and we return to school, we will hit the ground running. Our winter sports will begin district play, and our spring sports will begin their tryouts and practices. I hope that each of you gets the chance to relax and spend quality time with your family and friends during the break!

On a recent Friday night, our Lady Tigers battled against Fort Bend Clements in what ended up being a very exciting game. Ja’Kayla Davis nailed a three-point shot to tie the game with nine seconds left on the clock, but in the end we were defeated by one mere point with a final score of 59-58. A recent night game was against the Sweeny Bulldogs and we came out on top with a score of 60-47. On Friday, Dec. 20, our Lady Tigers traveled to Stafford to take on the Spartans.

Our boys basketball team played in the Devine Tournament from Thursday through Saturday and placed second. They defeated Hondo with a score of 77-43, lost to Jourdanton 46-45, won against Pearsall with a score of 60-41, which then matched them up against Devine for the final game of the tournament, and we won 60-58. On a Tuesday night, they played against Yoakum and won 64-42. The Tigers record is now 7-1 for the season. On Dec. 20, our boys played Galena Park in Tiger Gym. Our boys soccer team had the beginning of the week off and traveled to Floresville to play a double header.

During Christmas break, our Lady Tigers basketball team is hosting a tournament at WHS on Dec. 27-28, then they will play their first district game against Needville on Dec. 30. Our boys basketball team will play in the Schulenburg Tournament on Dec. 30-31, and our girls soccer will travel to Cy Springs for their season opener on Dec. 28. The Lady Tiger soccer team will then also play their first home game of the season against Lamar Consolidated on Dec. 30.

Check out our WHS Weekly Itinerary on the athletics page on our Wharton ISD website for game times and other information about the events we have happening during this time. We appreciate the support that has been shown for our Tiger athletes this year and in the coming months, there will be several opportunities to continue that trend. Be sure to go support our student athletes every chance you get.
