Both the Boling High School cross country boys’ and girls’ team earned first place finishes at the Yoakum Cross Country Meet on Saturday, Aug. 22.
Boling High School coach Jonathan Gibson said the program currently has 41 student athletes.
It was a good way to start the 2020 season.
“To say I’m excited about this year is a huge understatement,” Gibson said.
BHS only lost one male senior from the district championship team last year. That team had two state qualifiers.
“We look this year to qualify for state as a team,” Gibson said.
For the girls, they only lost one senior also from the 2019 team.
“We recruited a couple of girls from the athletic period to join the cross country team and we also gained a couple of very good freshmen,” Gibson said.
Among the varsity boys shown with their medals are from left, Adan Alvarez, Kaden Hanson, Lance Kocian, Jordan Todd, Abraham Garcia, Ross Hough, and Marc Mendoza.

BHS is off this week and then travels to Bellville on Oct. 5.
