The Wharton Tigers (0-7) lost another district game Friday, this time to Sweeny by a 48-0 score.

Wharton nearly came close to avoiding the shutout when Garrison Burns returned a fumble recovery more than 50 yards to the Sweeny 8. However, the offense could not capitalize with a score. 

The Tigers had 61 yards of total offense.

The Bulldogs (3-3), however, had two players gained over 100 yards each. It included quarterback Trace Holmes (7 carries-129 yards) and running back Xavier Woods (18-145 yards). 

Holmes also passed for 127 yards on 13-of-23 completions. He was in on all six of Sweeny’s offensive scores.

Wharton hosts its Homecoming next Friday against district rival the La Marque Cougars. Game time is 7 p.m.

Boling loses to Hallettsville

The Boling Bulldogs (3-4) lost their second district consecutive game Friday, this time against the Hallettsville Brahmas, 48-6.

The Brahmas (6-1) had a 34-0 halftime lead. Boling avoided the shutout in the third quarter following an 11-play drive, capped off by a Christian Montalvo 2-yard run. Boling didn’t commit any offensive turnovers, but punted five times.

Boling hosts district foe Hitchcock next Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

East Bernard wins Homecoming Game

The East Bernard Brahmas (6-1) defeated the Danbury Panthers Friday, 49-13, during Homecoming at Memorial Stadium behind 465 yards of total offense.

Among the Brahmas to score on the ground were Braydon Lemos twice, Joseph Cooper, Dallas Novicke, Chase Anderson, and Joshua Montalvo. The quarterback Novicke threw a touchdown pass to Mason Crist pass.

Kicker Cristian Ruiz had seven point after attempts.

The Brahmas amassed 21 points in the second quarter for a 35-0 halftime lead.

Danbury (3-4) scored its 13 points in the final quarter.

East Bernard continues district play at Rice Consolidated next Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
