Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Wilson passed away in her Fort Worth home on Jan. 1, 2021. Betty was born in 1953 to James and Vivian Wilson in Houston.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister Kathy Penry.

She is survived by her three nephews: Brian and his wife Heather, Josh and his wife Alex, and Travis and his wife Blaire. Betty is also survived by her three great-nephews: Bricen, Weston, and Brock.

During this time, the Penry family has made the difficult decision to hold a small graveside service reserved for family. In lieu of flowers, the Penry family asks that donations be made to the WARM Place Grief Support Center for Children.

Born in Houston, and raised in Wharton, Betty became part of the community. Witty and good-natured, Betty loved meeting up with friends and helping others around the neighborhood. She shared her love of cooking with others, and ran a successful business making gingerbread houses and treats during the holiday season. Her favorite pastime was putting together puzzles, especially ones of Paris, France. Upon the death of her mother Vivian in 2014, Betty moved to Fort Worth to be with her sister, Kathy. Betty took great pride in her nephews and cherished her time with her great-nephews.

Betty was a practicing Catholic and made many of her friends through spiritual connections. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton, and most recently a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller.

Betty will be buried alongside her parents at Holy Cross Cemetery in Houston.
