Floyd Brown

Floyd Brown passed away at the age of 76 on Monday morning, June 3 in Sugar Land. Floyd was born to Leroy  and Lorene Brown on Nov. 23, 1942 in Wharton. His passion was serving God at the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Wharton. He was a faithful servant of Mount Calvary, a member of the brotherhood, and he sang in the church choir. Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Edna Brown; children: Joe Byrd (Frances Byrd) and Lorene Brown; grandchildren: Ja’Vonda Brown-Ortiz, Khadijah Byrd, Stacy MacAfee, Keila William-Bell, Jamael Byrd, Robert Byrd, Dante Byrd, Michael Byrd Jr., Chastity Byrd, O’Neal Garza, Jerome Timmons, Janeka Timmons; a host of great-grandchildren and three nieces: Cammie Lamkin of Washington, D.C., Erika Clark and Stephanie Clark both of Richmond. He was preceded in death by his parents, both brothers, a sister and two children: Michael Byrd, Sr. and Wendal Brown. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 8 at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Lee Harris officiating. Burial at Wharton City Cemetery.
