Jack Benny Hammons 81, of Boling passed into the arms of the Lord on August 8, 2021. Jack was a long-time resident of Boling, graduating from Boling High School class of 1958.
He was born to Allen John Hammons and Leona Anna Miller Hammons of Boling. Jack loved providing for his family, working tirelessly as a counter manager of City Supply Co in Houston for over 45 years. Jack will be remembered for being “Mr. Fix-It” for his entire family, tackling any projects large and small. One of his most enjoyable hobbies was mowing grass and working on old mowers.
Jack was a people watcher; most days you could find him sitting on the front porch watching everybody, and he never met a stranger. He was also a lifelong diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Leona Hammons; his brothers, Allen Hammons, Freddie Hammons, Gene Michael Hammons, his sister Grace Weitz, and his son Jerry Don Hammons.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Jeanne Hammons, his daughter Stacie Sheffield of Dallas, and his son Adam Hammons of Wharton. Jack’s pride and joy was always his grandchildren, Asijah Raye Hammons of Wharton, Christian James of Dallas, Caroline Sheffield of Dallas and Mei Estelle Hammons of Wharton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
To say he was a good Papa was an understatement, as he absolutely adored his grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the caregivers from Houston Hospice for their compassion and care in Jack’s final days.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday August 14 at Boling United Methodist Church at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Houston Hospice, American Cancer Society and the Boling United Methodist Church in Jack’s name.
