Utah Lee Floyd, Sr. 88, of Wharton, passed away Jan. 3, 2021. He was born June 24, 1932 in Wharton to Charlie and Lillie Mae Jackson Floyd. Mr. Floyd was an aircraft maintenance technician. 

He is survived by his sons: the Rev. Utah Floyd, Jr. of Tampa, Fla., Rowland Floyd of Austin, and Elder Mark Floyd of Wharton; daughter Rose Cowles of Midwest City, Okla.; brothers: Henry Floyd of Wharton and the Rev. Charles Floyd of Adelanto, Calif.; sisters: Mozelle Hicks of Palmdale, Calif., and Recie Gipson of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; other relatives, friends and family. 

Service will be at East Gate of New Prosperity Baptist Church on Jan. 16, at 1 p.m., burial will follow at Floyd Cemetery. The Rev. Dexter Webb will officiate. Visitation at the Gooden-Hatton F. H. Chapel Friday from 12-6 p.m. We at Gooden-Hatton F.H. ask that everyone wear a mask when entering the building for visitation.
