The Wharton Civic Center in March had new carpet installed in several rooms in preparation for the spring. Civic center Manager Mikayla Monroe said big things were happening and painting has been done in the pre-function area. “We are sprucing the place up and getting ready for some busy months ahead,” Monroe said.

Unfortunately, the spring COVID-19 pandemic, then social distancing and stay-at-home orders affected how the civic center hosted events. Monroe mentioned this to the Wharton City Council during a recent budget workshop. For information on the civic center, call 979-532-4811, extension 603. The civic center has been operational since 1991.
