Christmas Day fell on Friday, Dec. 25 this year, and according to the Wharton County Sheriff’s Office Booking Report, only two people were arrested for various charges.

The arrests were 17 hours apart and included a resident from El Campo and another from Wharton, according to the information that the arresting officer was provided by the person who was detained.

An El Campo resident, age 27, was arrested on a felony drug possession and distribution charge at 2:01 a.m. by the WCSO. According to the booking report, the female suspect’s birthday was Dec. 25. Also, a Wharton resident, age 26, was detained at 7:10 p.m., on a public intoxication charge by the Wharton Police Department. 

The male was released the following day after a $250 personal recognizance bond was posted. His birthday fell on the day he posted bail.

Last year, four individuals were arrested on Christmas Day, three from Wharton and one from El Campo. Wharton PD made three of four arrests in 2019. In 2018, the county jail had one arrest on Dec. 25.
