Sometime next year, the Wharton Economic Development Corporation (WEDCO) will sell what was described as a “little parcel” on Richmond Road in Wharton.
This was what the WEDCO board of directors was told during a regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 21 regarding the property that is located close to the Wharton Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture’s office.
WEDCO Executive Director Joshua Owens said Steve Griffin is interested in the property and it’s Owens’ understanding that the land, once it’s purchased, would be used for future housing.
Griffin is the owner of Exuma Construction and Wharton Roofing
He said WEDCO will look to sell it at the beginning of 2021.
According to a balance sheet dated Dec. 21, the board was also shown current WEDCO assets and their values. This property that Griffin is interested in is on Richmond Road and has a value of $21,000. Another property at 108 Elm Street has a value of $66,881.
Among the other properties are the industrial site ($798,824) and property near a railroad worth $136,801.
