Juneteenth honorees: Carlton Scott and Christi Ellis

In advance of the Juneteenth Festival that will be Saturday, June 15 in downtown Wharton, the James Simmons, Jr. Juneteenth Committee has also selected Carlton Scott and Christi Ellis.

Scott was born in Wharton in 1959 to Helena Gordon Scott and Elicious Scott, Sr. His mother passed away when he was six years old and he was raised by his dad, who worked two jobs to provide for five children.
