Free throw hot shots

The Knights of Columbus in East Bernard hosted a free throw contest that was open to Wharton youth as well. The names of the youth who won were not available in this photo.

The Knights of Columbus in East Bernard announced that 27 youth competed in its annual Free Throw Championship on Monday, Jan. 27 in East Bernard. Advancing from the competition were 10 boys and girls, ages 9-14.

First place winners in the girls’ category and their age (parentheses) were: Reagan Domel (9 years), Samantha Fryer (10), Layla Moreno (11), Mackenzie Crist (12).

First-place winners in the boys’ category and their age (parentheses) were: Layne Cerny (9), Justiss Garvel (10), Major Crist (11), Hoyt Peck (12),  Camden Fucik (13), David Dennis (14).

According to East Bernard K. of C., the next competition is district and will be held on Feb. 8 at 9 a.m., with registration at 8:30 a.m., at the St. Anthony School gym in Columbus. 

All first-place winners and substitutes where necessary, are requested to attend. Winners of the district competition will advance to Hallettsville for the Victoria Diocesan Competition on Sunday, Feb. 16, and then to San Antonio for State Competition on Sunday, March 8 if successful.
