Collected eyeglasses, cell phones get recycled to help others
While I am asking for help, they are also collecting old cell phones for Cell Phones for Our Soldiers. Don't throw them in the drawer, bring them to Wharton Nursing, they will be recycled and sent to our soldiers who appreciate your gift. Any support given will be greatly appreciated. St. Joseph's Mission Bazaar in Boling had a good turnout and successful day. The barbecue beef and chicken and all the trimmings was done by Boling parishioners. It was tasty. Olga Rivera, Margaret Bucek, D.C. and Santos Rivera and Mary Treybig were those sitting on our side of the table. Olga's daughter Kristi Rivera is engaged to be married. The lucky fellow is Luke Hahn and their date has been set for Jan. 17 at Holy Family Church in Wharton. Kristi and her future husband both work for H-E-B in Gonzales. Olga's son Kristofor and his wife Christine Rivera both work for H-E-B. Christine is a store director. They live in Round Rock but work in Austin. Kristofor is an assistant store director in another H-EB store in Austin. Santos and D.C. Rivera, their grandfather and wife, were celebrating their 17th wedding anniversary Sunday. Some of the people we talked to were Clarice Kutach, who was happy with the crowd, she said they prepared 1,600 plates. Bessie and Stanley Konvicka, Donald Barbee, Father Dominic, working hard in the kitchen. Golf carts carried the people from their parking to the center. It was well organized and the hall was pretty cool. We had an enjoyable time. Later on at the end of our table, sat a lady politician who is very supportive of what goes on in the communities, not just Wharton. We see her and her husband Richard always attending functions. You know who she is because they both wear T-shirts that say "Dorothy Bottos, for Texas State Representative District 28." By now I feel I know Dorothy because she is always friendly and speaks to you. She represents the rural part of Fort Bend County, including Needville, Wharton County and Waller County which is next to the west part of Houston. She said she won all the primaries. She campaigns all the time, I told her that one day she would make it. This sounds pretty good, Polka For A Cure featuring the Duyka Brothers Band and the Red Ravens.
