Marilyn Clemons

Born Dec. 4, 1929 in Cherryvale, Kan., and died June 28, 2008 in Dallas.

Marilyn June Brown was the elder child of Richard Charles Brown and Blanche Agnes Baber Brown.

She was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from the University of Kansas where she was a member of Mortar Board and president of Tri Delta Fraternity for Obituaries Women. She taught English

and social studies and coached debate at St. Monica Catholic School in Dallas before co-founding Clemons Printing Company in Wharton in 1978 with her husband Leon Haggard Clemons II. After the death of a son Gerald Randolph Clemons in 1994 and her husband in 1997, she returned to Dallas.

She is survived by sister, Patricia Brown Dougherty and her husband Charles Frederick Dougherty of Midland; daughter, Corinne Clemons Bryan and husband Rev. William Jennings Bryan III of Dallas; son; Dr. Charles Richard Clemons and wife Justice Rebecca Simmons of San Antonio; grandchildren, Catherine Elizabeth Bryan and Christopher William Jennings Bryan of Dallas and Rachael Michelle Clemons, Sarah Marie Clemons and Patrick Thomas Clemons, all of San Antonio; a niece, two nephews and their families.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dallas Public Library or St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Wharton.

Memorial services were held at Grace United Methodist Church in Dallas at 2 p.m. on July 2. Private family interment followed.
