      When Khloe Kardashian from the reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians made a recent appearance on television, hanging on her arm was a bag designed by Wharton resident Shalon Owens. The Kardashians sisters are daughters of the late Robert Kardashian, O.J. Simpson trial lawyer.

      There are 65 bouttonaires made by Catholic Daughters No. 1990 for fathers who are residents in Avalon Place and Wharton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. The bouttonaires were made by CDA member Albina Hundl with the help of local 4-H'ers. Local CDA Regent is Janice Munez.
