Montgomery recertified as picture framer

Margaret Montgomery-Kostka of Montgomery Gallery & Frame in downtown Wharton has obtained recertification as a Certified Picture Framer.

Montgomery-Kostka earned the certificate by completing a Professional Picture Framers Association course held recently in Austin.

The CPF program recognizes framers who prove - through written examination - mastery of the principles essential to both picture framing and meeting customers' needs. Through the program, framers test their knowledge in the five exam content areas - Preservation, General Knowledge, Mechanical, Math and Mounting - to earn the framer's mark of excellence, the CPF designation.

About 3,600 individuals worldwide have achieved CPF status since the program's inception in 1986.

CPF holders who achieved their certification after 1993 are required to take a refresher course every four years to retain their status.
