WHAT: Class 2A UIL State Softball Tournament
WHEN-WHERE: Thursday and Saturday, Red McCombs Softball
Field at The University of Texas at Austin, located off Martin Luther King
Blvd. and _Interstate 35.
SEMIFINAL PAIRINGS
Sadler (S&S Consolidated) Lady Rams (30-4) vs. Coahoma
Bulldogettes (32-9), 2:30 p.m. Thursday. East Bernard Brahmaretttes
(30-4-1) vs. Harmony Lady Eagles  (24-2-1), 4:30 p.m. Friday.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: 11 a.m. Saturday.
LAST WEEK: East Bernard swept Poth by identical 2-0 scores to
claim the Region IV Championship Friday and Saturday. Harmony
beat Wooden for the Region III title, winning the first game 3-1, losing
the second 1-0 and winning third 4-1.Coahoma swept Hawley 16-
1 and 4-3 for the Region I crown, S&S beat Aubrey for the Region II
championship,losing the first game 8-0 and winning the next two by 5-2
and 7-0 scores.
ABOUT THE BRAHMARETTES East Bernard, under 2nd year
coach Amy Bush, is led by pitcher Courtney Repka, who has 416
strikeouts on the season, Liz Reyes, Haley Dawson, Cameron Kieler,
Samantha Wasek, Laura Kubes, Paula Lopez, Anna Giannetti, Brittney
Wilcox, Cameron Kieler, Courtney Hollinger, Trisha Polak and courtsey
runner Ashley _Miculka.
ABOUT HARMONY: Harmony, under coach, Reniessa Wilburn, won
the District 18-2A title. Standouts include pitchers Amber Wilburn and
Samantha Matulis. Other standouts include Samantha Wolf, Lyndsey
Bailey, Raney Pierce, Chelbi McCoy and Tracey Hoeft.
ABOUT COAHOMA: Coahoma, under coach Tracy Tadlock, is
making its fourth straight trip to the state tournament. They lost to eventual
state champion Troy 11-1 in last year's state semifinal game. They lost
to Elysian Fields in semfinal contests in 2005-06. The Coahoma missed
the playoffs in 2004. The 2003 team lost to Weimar for the tournament
championship and the 2002 team lost to Alto in a state semifinal game.
This year's standouts include pitcher Heather Newton, Laci Sterling and
Krista Kerby .
ABOUT THE S&S: Harmony, under coach, Reniessa Wilburn,
won the District 18-2A title. Standouts include pitcher Tracy Hoeft and
Lyndsey Bailey.
RADIO COVERAGE: Radio Station KULP AM-1390, in El Campo
will broadcast the series.It will also be broadcast over the Internet at
www.kulpradio.com
TICKETS: Adult tickets are $10 and student tickets are $5. Full
Tournament tickets are $85
