Willie Karasek

Funeral services for Willie Karasek, 84, of East Bernard, were held on Sunday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard with Rev. Don Ruppert officiating. Burial followed in Holy Cross Church Cemetery in East Bernard.

A Rosary was recited Saturday at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home.

Mr. Karasek died May 22, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born March 18, 1924 in Lane City, the son of the late Will Karasek and Louisa Kech Karasek.

He had been a resident of East Bernard for the past eight years and was a former resident of Evant and Brookshire. Mr. Karasek married Marcella Orsak on Nov. 9, 1942 in East Bernard.

He was a farmer, rancher and a cotton ginner. Mr. Karasek was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard.

Mr. Karasek was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dolores Marquess in 1987; a granddaughter, Tina Enoch in 2002; three sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella Karasek of East Bernard; daughters Charline Henneke of Cypress and Dian Peschel of East Bernard; sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Evelyn Karasek and Leonard and Margie Karasek, all of Evant, and Wilburn and Shirley Karasek and Daniel and Bernadette Karasek, all of East Bernard; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to Holy Cross Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1325, East Bernard, TX 77435.
