Sounding Board Letter to the Editor: We learned this week that neither my aunt (my dad, Dwight Holub's only sibling), a cousin, my brother, nor myself were a "match" for my dad in the search for a stem cell transplant. Thus, we will remain hopeful that the National Marrow/Stem Cell Donor Registry will provide a "match" for him and others who are in need. The more people who are on the Registry, the greater the chance someone will find their "match." As some of you know, I have organized a Marrow/Stem Cell Donor Registry Drive set for Sat., May 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Commercial State Bank Gold Room in El Campo. I hope that you will prayerfully consider signing up for the Registry on that day. It is free, quick and a simple cheek swab. Please spread the word about the need for marrow/stem cell donors, not just for my dad who is being treated for cancer, but for others who need a transplant. Many thanks, Lori Holub Janak El Campo |
