Lady Bulldogs clinch final playoff spot VAN VLECK - After a loss to Wharton County rival East Bernard dropped them into a third place tie, Boling bounced back to beat Van Vleck 7-2 Friday night to claim the third and final District 27-2A playoff spot. The teams split their league games and finished tied with 7-5 records to force the playoff. District champion Danbury finished at 12-0 and has first round bye in the playoffs. Hallettsville, Schulenburg and Industrial tied for the District 28-2A title. On Monday Hallettsville beat Schulenburg 3-2 and Industrial 8-0 to capture the first playoff seed and to earn a bye . District 27-2A runner-up East Bernard will play the loser of that contest while Boling will take on the winner. If Boling plays Industrial the game would be played Friday in Palacios. If it's Schulenburg, the teams would play a best two-out-of three game series beginning on Thursday at a site to be determined. In the district playoff, Boling pitcher Alyssa Ferell stymied Van Vleck for the most part. She also contributed in the batter's box, going three for four with a double and three RBIs.
