Brahmas 27-2A playoff hopes put on hold

      EAST BERNARD - East Bernard needed a win over District 27-2A baseball champion Danbury Tuesday night to secure a playoff spot. But the Brahmas dropped a 5-0 decision to rival Brazos Friday night to fall to 5-4 in the league standings and now will need help to advance.

Pioneers take series from Alvin

      WCJC split Saturday's doubleheader with Alvin Community College at Tiger Field to win the series against the Dolphins. WCJC won last Wednesday's first game 14-7 and took Saturday's opener of the twin bill 8-7. The Dolphins won the second 12-3.

Lady Tigers drop 24-3A softball finale to Sealy

      SEALY - Wharton's softball team dropped a 9-4 decision to Sealy in Friday's District 24-3A finale. Both teams finished tied for fifth with identical 4-9 records. Wharton won the first time they played back on March 25. Stafford finished seventh at 2-10 and eighth place Royal went winless.

Murrile leaves EB for Louise

      SAN MARCOS - Long time East Bernard coach Greg Murrile will be leaving his alma mater to take a position at Class A Louise in the fall. Murrile informed his athletes last week on his decision to move. The Louise ISD board of trustees approved his hiring on Monday.
