Sounding Board Letter to the Editor: For reasons unknown to me and several others, the road leading off FM 1301 to the Newgulf Elementary School has been neglected for several months of very badly needed work. There is a high volume of traffic on that road. There are school buses full of kids, kids in their vehicles going to play ball at the park and parents taking kids to school - not to mention buses from other districts. It would be a total disaster if some driver would lose control of his or her vehicle after hitting a pothole (and there are plenty of them) and slam into another vehicle full of kids. There is no excuse or reason valid enough not to take action, not to fix this road for the safety and well being of our kids. If there is enough money for a new county barn, I'm sure there is money for a little asphalt and some man-hours to fix this dangerous problem. Mr. Commissioner Mickey Reynolds, can you take time from your busy schedule and take care of this problem? Sometimes too late comes too soon. Ray Rodriguez Boling |
