4-H youngsters, adults glean experience at show

On April 6 Wharton County 4-H members participated in the annual showmanship contest/ clinic in preparation for the approaching 2008 Wharton County Youth Fair.

Youth are able to show beef, sheep, goats, and swine. This year the Bucket Calf category was added for the youth who are 5 to 8 years old.

An adult category was also added for the parents of 4-H members to show their showmanship skills.

First place winners are awarded a Belt Buckle. Buckle sponsors were Kevin and Kelli Bannert, Bar Z Ranch, Farmer's Co-op of El Campo, Family Vision Center, First Ag Credit, Wharton Feed & Supply, Brian and Pat Sanders, Louie's Package Store, Bucek Pipe & Steel and VGT Sod.

Second and third place prizes were sponsored by Farmer's Co-op of El Campo, Lonesome Acres Club Lambs, Caney Valley Cotton, Wharton Vet Clinic, Bayer Animal Health and Peter

The winner of the Adult Division belt buckle was Scott Wallace of Wharton and second place adult winner was Lisa Stolle of Wharton.

Bucket calf exhibitors were Jace Baker of El Campo, Gracie Bosch of Wharton, Lana Foyt of Wharton, Makensie Till of El Campo, Tori Arrington of Boling, Kennedy Couvillion of El Campo, Haliey Sanchez of Boling, Peyton Stock of El Campo, Cameron Koudela of Wharton, Layla Bickham of Boling, Colby Bosch of Wharton, Kally Jo Felchman Johnson of Wharton, Colt Hough of Wharton, Celia Manzia of Boling, Amber Orsak of Wharton, Corey Fults of Boling, Cash Ricci-Ott of Boling, Sierra Rodriguez of El Campo and Blake Sanchez of Boling.

All exhibitors received a blue ribbon, a 4-H cup and a 4- H eraser.

Senior beef exhibitors were first place Laura Reyna of Wharton, second place Brett Wallace of Wharton, third place Chris Martin of Wharton, Michael Orsak of El Campo, Nicki Sablatura of El Campo, Linda Cerny of El Campo and Curtis Stanford of Wharton.

Junior goat exhibitors were first place Kyler Couvillion of El Campo, second place Brooke Wallace of Wharton, third place Merle Hinze of Wharton, Cade Bickham of Boling and Chase Stary of El Campo.

Intermediate goat exhibitors were first place Shelby Bock of Boling, second place Shelby Stary of El Campo, third place Wyatt Hinze of Wharton, Kori Couvillion of El Campo, Taylor Hernandez of El Campo, Madison Cline of Wharton, Lauren Herrmann of El Campo, Devynn Nash of Boling, Briana Stanford of Wharton and Sean Mahoney of El Campo.

Senior goat exhibitors were first place Matt Hinze of Wharton, second place Taylor Cline of Wharton, third place Katie Herrmann of El Campo, Brett Wallace of Wharton, Kara Witzkoski of Wharton, Stephanie Mahoney of El Campo, Seth Roach of Wharton, Curtis Stanford of Wharton and Heather Graham of El Campo.

Junior sheep exhibitors were first place Kaylor Rolf of Wharton, second place Sydney Stolle of Wharton, third place Regan McGuill of El Campo, Zane Baker of El Campo, Kelly Salyer of Wharton, Katie Toomes of Wharton and Caroline Gavranovic of Wharton.

Intermediate sheep exhibitors were first place Caleb Reed of Egypt, second place Wyatt Hinze of Wharton, third place Haley Garza of Wharton, Riley Henderson of Wharton and Jonathon Toomes of Wharton.

Senior sheep exhibitors were first place Heather Graham of El Campo, second place Shayla Smith of El Campo and third place Chris Martin of Wharton.

Junior swine exhibitors were first place Regan McGuill of El Campo and Matthew Wilkins of El Campo was second.

Intermediate swine exhibitors were first place Christina Stehno of El Campo, second place Kari Wilkins of El Campo and third place Angel Rodriguez of El Campo.
