Brahmas bounce back with 9-5 win over Van Vleck

East Bernard played solid in all phases of Tuesday's District 27-2A game against Van Vleck and came away with a 9-5 win at Koym Field.
The second place Brahmas improved to 4-2 in District 27-2A baseball standings and Van Vleck slipped ot 1-5.
League-leading Danbury beat Hitchcock 9-5 to improve to 6- 0 and the third place Bulldogs slipped to 3-2.
The Brahmas visit Hitchcock on Friday and hosts county rival Boling next Tuesday.
Brazos beat Boling to even it's record to 3-3 and the Bulldogs slipped to 1-5
EB's James Powell went the distance on the mound, scattering 7 hits and striking out 11.
Powell was helped by some great defensive plays as the Brahmas turned a double play to end the game.
Luis Roldan made a great catch in right field in the sixth inning and then threw out a Van Vleck runner at first base who had strayed too far.
The Brahmas jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Anthony Cruz led off with a walk.
Matt Stelzel followed with a single and then after an out, Clint Graves reached on an infield hit.
With the bases loaded Jacob Hudman scored Cruz with a sacrifice fly.
In the second Powell led off with a single, moved to second on an outfield error.
Ricky Simpson went in as a courtesy runner, Three consecutive walks to Roldan, Cruz, and Stelzel scored Simpson. In the bottom of the fourth Roldan led off with a single, Cruz scored him with a double.
Stelzel then singled and Cruz went to third. Aaron Alexander then hit a ground ball that was misplayed, scoring Cruz.
Graves then followed with a run-scoring double that sent Stelzel home and moved Alexander to third.
Cameron Orsak then hit a sacrifice fly and Alexander scored.
Roldan walked to lead on the fifth. He stoled second and scored on Stelzel's third hit of the night, a double.
Alexander then doubled, scoring Stelzel. In the sixth Orsak hit a one-out home run.
Stelzel was 3-3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.
Graves was 3-3 with 1 RBI. Anthony Cruz and Luis Roldan reached base 3 times each.
Coming up Friday, East Bernard plays at Hitchcock, Boling plays at Van Vleck and Danbury hosts Brazos.
