Wharton still in District 24-3A playoff race

Lady Bulldog softballers pick up two 27-2A wins
Plays at East Bernard Tuesday
      BOLING - Boling got back in the District 27-2A softball playoff race by beating Yes College Prep and Hitchcock earlier in the week. The Lady Bulldogs prevailed over the Wizards 17-0 on Tuesday and beat Hitchcock on Thursday 18-1 in a make up game.

Lady Tigers playing for pride

      Wharton's girls softball has only pride left to play for as the Lady Tigers were eliminated from the District 24- 2A playoff race last Friday. Fourth place Wharton dropped a 1-0 decision to Stafford last Friday to slip to 4-6 in the district standings.

Tiger golf team finishes fifth in 24-3A tourney
      SAN FELIPE - The Wharton boys golf team finished fifth in the District 24-3A Tournament, completed Tuesday afternoon at the Stephen F. Austin Club. The tournament started on Monday. Columbus took the championship with a two-day, 36-hole total of 676.

Brahmarettes close in on 27-2A playoff spot

      WALLIS - East Bernard's softball team moved one step closer in securing the second District 27-2A playoff spot by beating rival Brazos 10-0 Thursday night at Lady Cougar Field. The game was originally scheduled for April 4 but postponed because of rain.

Brahmas bounce back with 9-5 win over Van Vleck

      East Bernard played solid in all phases of Tuesday's District 27-2A game against Van Vleck and came away with a 9-5 win at Koym Field. The second place Brahmas improved to 4-2 in District 27-2A baseball standings and Van Vleck slipped ot 1-5.

Pioneers dealt 7-5 setback by Buccaneers

      WCJC dropped a 7-5 heartbreaker to Blinn College Wednesday night at Tiger Field. The third place Pioneers slipped to 13-9 in the South Zone Region XIV standings. The sixth place Buccanners improved to 8-4. The two teams will play a doubleheader today in Brenham.

Brahmarettes finish 2nd in 27-2A meet

      WALLIS - East Bernard's girls track team finished a strong second in the District 27- 2A Championships completed Monday at Cougar Stadium on the campus of Brazos High School. Host Brazos took the title with a whopping 247 and the Brahmarettes finished with 166 points.

      In Saturday's Journal-Spectator there was an error regarding the District 27-2A tennis story. In girls singles ,It was Boling's Whitney Rachunek, not Stephanie Rachunek who finished second to advance to the regional tournament.
