Evan Anders

Evan M. "Buzz" Anders, 61, of Arlington, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2008.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at First United Methodist Church in Arlington. Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington.

Mr. Anders was born Aug. 25, 1946 in Newgulf to Nancy and Douglas Anders.

After graduating from Boling High School, he recieved a B.A., master's and Ph.D in history from the University of Texas. Mr. Anders had taught in the history department of the University of Texas-Arlington since 1978.

He had a lifelong passion for American history, a passion evident in his teaching. Students marveled at his ability to deliver lectures for as long as three hours without notes. They and colleagues in his department will sorely miss him.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Hekman; his mother, Nancy Anders; and his children, Robert and Cecily.
