CDC hosts annual fundraiser Tuesday, Marco principal for a day
The Fifth Graders at Newgulf Elementary School recently decorated the hallways with projects done for the Science Fair. Congratulations to all the students who participated. Special thanks to Grace Wuthrich for giving her time to judge the projects. Results were: First place, Heath Kulak; second place, Clayton Passman; third place, Ellie Forgason; honorable mention, Gabby Alcala, Morgan Barclay, Jessica Boerger, Shawna Hough, Vanessa Lopez, Tyler Mann, Cody Peoples, Karli Seymour, Brooke Wallace and Tyler Wittig. Newgulf Third Grade Rodeo Art winners were: Marco Jimenez, Jason Leblanc, Megan Malone, Jason Gmitter, Brionne Butler, Joe Reyes, Justin Wittig, Jordan Spacek, Paiton Kalina, Julie Salinas, Jody Tatum, Sierra Williams, Kelly Salyer, Colby Simpson and Kory Didear. Marco Jimenez was also Principal for the Day for earning 200 plus AR points. Marco took Jason Leblanc and teacher Theresa Krenek out for lunch and gave the entire third grade 30-minutes of extra recess. Way to go Third Grade!! Congratulations to Iago Junior High seventh grader Jolie Davidek. She participated in the Duke University Talent Identification Program by taking the ACT test earlier this school year. Jolie qualified for State Recognition by scoring 22 on the Reading portion of the exam. This is a significant achievement because the pool of students is highly selective and the scores are ones that many high school students aspire to achieve. Jolie will be honored at a state recognition ceremony later this year. The BHS One Act Play performance of Pygmalion placed as alternate at the district meet. The Company is directed by Stephanie Konvicka and was named Best Technical Company at the competition. Recently BHS Band members participated in Music Region 13 UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest and did very well. Students earning a first division rating for solos were: A.J. Fellers, Chris Giesie, Cristina Hinojosa, Jordan Pinson, Angela Valdez and Kaitlynn Wittig. The percussion ensemble also earned a first division rating with members Kevin Ferrell, Cristina Hinojosa, Chris Hlavinka, Ashton Kalina, Simon Mendoza, Jordan Pinson, Carson Quave and Xzavier Sims. Congratulations for representing BHS so well! Congratulations to the Boling Lady Bulldogs Track Team Regional Qualifiers: Kierra Jackson, Sigrid Roberts, Ashton Kalina, Jessica Moore, Joneva Jackson and Ebony Ashley. Also placing at the District Meet was Sarah Hardee. The Lady Dogs are coached by Cynthia Clark. The BHS FCCLA group recently visited the Texas Children's Hospital. This has become an annual event for these students. They give away teddy bears and small gifts to the children who are hospitalized. This year FCCLA also donated $200 to the Ronald McDonald House on behalf of Chloe Harrison, daughter of BHS Counselor Kate Harrison and her husband Rex.
