Brahmas dealt 7-1 district loss by Danbury

DANBURY - East Bernard dug themselves a hole early and couldn't climb out of it against the District 27-2A leading Danbury Saturday afternoon at Panther Field. Danbury scored two runs in the first and three runs in the third to build a 5-0 lead and finished with a 7-1 win.

The Panthers improved to 50, completing the first round of league play. Danbury played 3-2 Hitchcock Tuesday night.

East Bernard slipped to 3-2 and played 1-4 Van Vleck last night. The Leopards dropped a 7-3 decision to Brazos, which improved to 2-3.

Boling dropped an 18-0 decision to Hitchcock on Friday and was 1-5 before playing the Cougars last night.

Cameron Orsak threw the entire game for the Brahmas against Danbury and struck out four.

The Panthers jumped on Orsak in the first frame with a couple of hits and an error by the Brahmas.

Danbury starter Jake DeBerry led off with a standup double down the left field line. After a wild pitch by Orsak put DeBerry at third, the leftfielder dropped Dillon Peltier's fly ball to score DeBerry and, just like that, Danbury led 1-0.

The second run came after Peltier was run down off a grounder from Scott Zimmerle. With two outs, Kris Turpin came through with a single to the gap at right field.

Danbury continued to pour it on in the second frame as it recorded four more hits and scored three more runs for a 5-0 advantage.

The Brahmas had one hit until the frame, a Luis Roldan single.

In the fifth Orsak led off with a single and Anthony Cruz courtesy ran for him.

Luis Roldan followed with a walk and then Jacob Hudman ripped a line drive right to the third basemen, who caught it and doubled the runner up at second base.

James Powell followed with a single and then Chris Plunkett followed with an RBI single, scoring Roldan.

Aaron Alexander and Clint Graves both had singles in the sixth inning but the Brahmas couldn't get any runs across.
