Wharton JV, Frosh tennis teams win District 24-3A tournaments COLUMBIA - The Wharton's junior varsity and freshman boys and girls teams also captured district titles at Columbia Lakes last Thursday. The boys team totaled 33 points. Pearland Dawson was second with 18 points and Stafford was third with six points. The girls team finished with 41 points. Columbus was second with 16 points and Sweeny was third with 10 points. In boys singles, Johnny Castro took first. Paige Mata was first in girls singles. The girls doubles team of Sarah Gubbels and Hailey Rainer took first and Amanda Billings and Shaina Lowe was second. The boys doubles team of Kole Kubicek and Landon Sneed took first and Chip Doetsch and Jake Jarvela were second. The mixed doubles team of Nick Lanza and Gina Wuthrich took first. In freshman results, Wharton's boys team finished with 21 points. Sealy was second with 16 points and Sweeny was third with 10 points. The girls team totaled 21 points. Sealy was second with 18 points and Needville was third with eight points. In boys singles, Tate Lowe took first and Edward Robledo finished third. Lindle Pennington finished third in girls singles. The girls doubles team of Trisha Thorton and Rebecca Sanders took first. The mixed doubles team of Matthew Zahn and Elizabeth and Masek also took first. |
