Lady Bulldog tracksters earn trip to regional meet

WALLIS - The Boling girls track team enjoyed success at Monday's District 27-2A championships held at Cougar Stadium on the campus of Brazos High School.

Several earned the right to compete at the Region IV Class 2A meet later in the month at Texas State University in Sam Marcos by winning or finishing second or third in events.

The Boling 400-meter relay team of Jessica Moore, Joneva Jackson, Sigrid Roberts and Ebony Ashley finished third with a 52.31.

The 800-meter relay team of Moore, Jackson, Roberts and Ashley finished third with a 1:51.97.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Sarah Hardee, Ashton Kalina, Moore and Roberts finished fourth with a 4:34.51 time.

In individual running events, Hardee finished fifth in the 800-meter dash with a 2:51.04.

In last Thursday's field events, Sigrid Roberts finished third in the long jump competition with a 16-3 distance. She added a second place finish the high jump with a 4-9 clearance of the bar. Kierra Jackson finished second in the shot put with a 32-11.25 effort.

Host Brazos took the title with a whopping 247 and the Brahmarettes finished with 166 points.

Van Vleck was third with 84 points. Boling was fourth with 63 points, Danbury was fifth with 36 points and Hitchcock was sixth with 15 points.
