Staff photo by Barry Halvorson Meeting the various electronics and furniture needs of Wharton with brand name products and top-of-line service is Tec-Troncis Systems Inc., owned by Randy and Melanie Chumchal.
When it comes to the different products they sell, Randy and Melanie Chumchal simply let the companies they represent speak for themselves.

But when it comes to a wide variety of services provided, that's when things get truly easy.

"We're here to help people simplify their lives," Melanie said of Tec-Tronic Systems Inc. "The national brands we represent serve as the billboard for the business but it's on the service end of things where we can really make a difference for our customers."

Those national brands offered through Tec-Tronic's 423 E. Boling Highway location include Radio Shack, AT&T Wireless Services, Dish Network, FedEx and, their most recent business offering, Select Imports, which offers the entire line of Ashley furniture and decor. Other services include Wharton County Locksmith along with security, telephone and electronic service and installation.

"We keep adding to the business every time we see a way we can benefit our customers," Melanie said.

"Each time, it's been kind of a leap of faith for us, but our customers have always supported our new ventures and we plan to continue expanding in the future."

While adding a line of furniture to what was general considered an electronics store might not seem logical on the surface, in practice it's a good match.

"All of what is offered actually works together well," she said. "You come in for a phone and might realize you need an extra key. You come in for a new flat screen television and find the sofa to put in front of it."

And you're going to find it less expensive in Wharton than you will anywhere else, according to Melanie.

"We own our own building and we've got low overhead and pass that savings along to people," she said.

"We carry the full line of Ashley products and we'll encourage customers to visit the big city showrooms to decide what they want and then comeback and order it through us. We can have it delivered in a week or two while meeting or beating anyone else's price."

In discussing the service end of the business, Randy pointed out that all of the technicians are fully trained and certified in what they do. He added that the business offers free estimates on home and business installations.

"And even more we offer free advice at the store," Melanie added. "We want our customers to be satisfied both before and after the sale. We truly are an information center for our products."

Randy and Melanie have been running the business for the past 15 years after buying it from the founders, her parents David and Debbie Allen. And many of the employees have been with the business they are part of the family.

"Julie Mendoza has been with us more than 10 years and we've got others that have been with us seven, eight or nine years. We've got 10 employees, including another husband and wife, and along with my parents we support three complete families with all of the benefits. We want to do the right thing because we feel it's necessary to keep good people."

In addition to taking care of their own, the Chumchals also believe in taking care of their community.

"I'm a member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors," Melanie said. "And we support a number of civic organizations, like the Pilot Club, as well as donating to various community fundraisers. We're also participants in and contributors to the Wharton County Youth Fair, school organizations and youth sports."

For more information on the various products and services available, contact Randy, Melanie or one of their service people by calling 532-0011.

"Wharton has been good to us for many years," Melanie concluded.

"Adding new products and services helps us continue to grow. We look forward to expanding to meet the needs of Wharton County."
