Church honors its pastor's anniversary
Recognition of Pastor Gillis was given by Carl Bradshaw, Rosie Bradshaw, Deacon A.D. Moore and Rev. Clarence Owens. The Gillis sisters performed three songs in tribute to him and Rev. A.C. Gardner brought the message. After a special presentation and gifts given the program was ended by Rev. Owens, who was master of ceremonies. Dinner was served after the program in the church cafeteria. Senior Citizen Day Program was held Sunday at East Gate/ New Prosperity Baptist Church. It opened with music followed by a welcome given by Janice Eldridge. A medley of old gospel music was sung by the church choir. Janice Robertson introduced the senior citizens in the congregation. Rev. Ruiel Taylor III preached a sermon for the seniors. The seniors were presented red T-shirts with gold writing and gift cards. Linda Ephran was the emcee. After communion a dinner was served. Belated happy birthday wishes go out to Rebecca Gonzales on Saturday and O.J. Sanford on Sunday. Happy birthday wishes are sent today to Aaron Espinosa, Genesis Simmons and Rachel Tydlacka. Other birthdays this week include: Donna Wooten and Haley Socha on Thursday; Robert Anderson, Jarett Barker, Carla Gonzales, Bubbie Frazier, Kit Merka, Patsy Ondrias and Jarren Simmons on Saturday; Riley Freese, James Haller Jr., Leroy Kocian Jr. and Douglas Webb on Sunday; Lacey Erdelt on Monday; and Kristie Roberts and Roel Rodriguez on Tuesday. Happy wedding anniversary wishes go out Glenn and Shelly Erdelt celebrating 11 years of marriage on Thursday; Wayne and Jeanette Krenek celebrate 33 years of marriage on Saturday; and J.B. and Liliana Johse celebrate 15 years of marriage on Monday. Sympathy with prayers are expressed to the Palmer and Austin families who lost their loved one Regena Austin on March 28. Also to the Allen family who lost thier loved one Garris Allen on March 29. The Twentieth Century District Association board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Sand Ridge Baptist Church. The group's Youth Choir rehearsal will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sand Ridge Baptist Church. Members of New Zion Bethel Baptist Church in Jake Ford community invite the public to their pastor and wife, Rev. and Mrs. A.J. Hatfield, 15th Appreciation Service Program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Heman Clay III of Sanctuary of Praise Fellowship in Houston will preach the sermon. A Family and Friends Program will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Elm Grove Baptist Church. The word will be preached by Rev. C.W. Gaines, pastor of Spirit of Life Baptist Church in Houston. The public is invited to a ninth annual Musical at Greater Union Baptist Church in Matthews at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19. A Books R Fun Book Fair will be held on Thursday and Friday, April 17 and 18, in Classrooms A and B at GCMC. It is being sponsored by the Purple Heart Volunteers.
