Dr. Spellman reviews book at next meeting

The Wharton Book Review Club will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, April 14, in the Wharton County Historical Museum, 3615 Richmond Rd.

Dr. Paul Spellman of Wharton County Junior College will be telling of his research and reviewing his latest book, The Lost Treasure of Buffalo Gap.

This is the title of his new children's book which will be published later this year.

This is his second historical fiction for young people. He wrote one in 1995 as well.

It is more common to hear of the adventures of early adult settlers, now there is a chance to get to know more about what adventures children had in those early years of America.

Dr. Spellman is known throughout the state for his reviews and book signings with his accounts of his books that bring to life the Texas Rangers.

The Wharton Club has been able to enjoy his reviews of several of his books about the rangers.

He is an instructor of History at WCJC and is division chair for the Fine Arts Department.

Prior to teaching at WCJC he taught at Houston Community College, the University of Houston and Texas A&I in Kingsville.

Dr. Spellman has an undergraduate degree in American literature from Southwest Texas University, a master's degree in history from the University of Texas in Austin and his PhD in history from the University of Houston.

Tickets for the review may be purchased at the door for $5. For more information call Sally Soderquist 532-4936 or Sammy Lou Franks at 532-4615.
