Birthday celebration held for Noami Berry

The birthday celebration for Noami Berry of Camp Zion community was held Saturday in Spanish Camp. The event was sponsored by Berry's children: Yvonne, Garland, William and Isaac III. Weclome was given by Isaac Berry IV and prayer given by Rev. Clarence Owens.

A birthday cake had the words "Happy Birthday Mommy, Granny, Mrs. Berry and Aunt Noami" inscribed on it. There were 50 attending the party and Berry said she enjoyed every minute of the gathering.

The Crescent Ex-Student Reunion was held at the Wharton County Youth Fairgrounds on Saturday.

Betty Parr Muegge of Glen Flora was surprised with a plaque inscribed, "Teaching and dedicated service to the Crescent School Community. May God Bless You."

Melissa Banda of Wharton was given a birthday party by her mom, Beatrice Aquila, and grandmother, Jose Aguilar, at Riverfront Park Saturday. Melissa turned 11. There were 30 guests at the party and Melissa got many gifts.

Civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assasinated 40 years ago on April 4 by James Earl Ray. Dr. King's dreams will never be forgotten.

Belated happy wedding anniversary wishes go out to Walter and Regina Jefferson of Houston on 19 years of marriage on April 1.

Members of First Baptist Church in Glen Flora will host a Pre-Appreciation Service for their pastor, Rev. and Mrs. Ernest Gillis at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Guest speaker will be Rev. Jimmie Wright of New Mount Olive Baptist Church in Mackey. The program will climax at 3 p.m. Sunday with Rev. A.C. Gardner of Sand Ridge Baptist Church as guest speaker.

An Appreciation Service for Rev. and Mrs. Carl Neal will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Boling.

Guest speaker is Rev. Lucas of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.
