Strait's 'Troubadour' CD fits country crooner
CD Review Mike Konvicka

The title of George Strait's new CD fits the country music superstar to a "T."

"Troubadour" was released Tuesday and is already gaining rave reviews.

The title cut is about Strait living his life as a country singer making it in the business and not changing through his ways

Here are a few of the opening lyrics

"I was an Old Troubadour. I still feel 25, most of the time. I still raise a little cane with the boys.

"Honky tonks and pretty women and Lord I'm still right there with them.

"Singing above the crowd and the noise. Sometimes I still feel like Jesse James and still trying to make a name.

"Knowing nothing is going to change what I am I was a young troubadour when I rode in on a song and I'll be an old Troubadour when I'm gone."

George recorded the album at Jimmy Buffett's Shrimpboat studio in Key West Fla., where he also cut "It Just Comes Natural," which was released in 2006. It was his last studio CD

He released "22 More Hits" last year.

This is Strait's 37th overall album since. His first "Strait County," came out in 1981.

The first single from the new album, "I Saw God Today," debuted a couple of weeks ago at No. 19 on the country chart, and is higher than any songs Strait has released in his career. It's currently in the Top 5 on Billboard country singles list. "It's a great record to start out with," said Strait in news release.

"Anyone who has had a kid can relate to seeing them for the first time and know that it is really and truly a gift from God."

The second cut "It Was Me" is slow ballad about a woman meeting a man for the first time and knowing the relationship would last."

"Brothers Of The Highway" is about traveling down the road in an 18-wheeler and missing their special ladies.

"River Of Love" is a catchy up tempo song about enjoying a good time with his special woman.

Songstress Patty Loveless joins Strait on the "House Of Cash" It's a tribute tune about Johnny Cash and June Carter.

"Give Me Another More Time" is about a farmer dealing with hard times and trying to asking his wife to be patient.

"When Your In Love" is another catchy song about being in love and enjoying the good life. "Make Her Fall Me In Love Song" will definitely make you want to get up and dance. It's about a woman finding a man for a romance

Texas singer-songwriter Dean Dillon, who has penned many songs for Strait, joins in to croon "West Texas Town. It's about driving around the state and finding a woman.

"House With No Doors" is about a man wanting his woman to come back home after a breakup.

Strait sings about a house being a prison and not making a woman something she's not.

Finally if "Heartaches Were Horses" is about a cowboy working on a ranch and his woman packing up and leaving him.
