Wharton baseball, softball teams resume 24-3A play

Wharton's softball and baseball teams were trying to snap three-game losing streaks against Sealy Tuesday night.

The Lady Tigers entered the final first round game with a 2- 4 record and Sealy was 3-3.

Wharton lost to Sweeny 1- 0 on March 14, to Columbus 8-0 last Wednesday and to Needville 15-0 last Thursday.

The Lady Tigers host winless Royal in a 10 a.m. game on Saturday.

Columbia and Sweeny were both 6-0 before playing on Tuesday. Needville was 5-1 before playing Columbus, which was 4-2. The Lady Falcons played Stafford, which was also winless.

Wharton hosts Royal in a 10 a.m. contest on Saturday.

The Tiger baseball team, entered its game against Sealy with a 2-4 record.

Wharton beat Stafford in the district opener back on March 11.

The Tigers then lost to Sweeny on March 14, Columbus on March 19 and Needville on March 20.

Sweeny beat Royal, score unavailable, in a make up game on Monday to improved to 4-0 and battled 2-2 Columbia Tuesday night. Needville was 4-0 before playing Columbus who was 3- 1. Royal and Stafford were winless before playing last night.

The Tigers play the Falcons in Brookshire at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Columbia hosts Stafford at noon, Columbus plays at Sealy at 2 p.m. and the Bluejays host Sweeny at 7:30 p.m.
