Boling students enter VASE event, receive top rating

Marissa Neal shows her VASE entry, which won top rating, entitled Friends.
Sarah Sharkody and Marissa Neal participated in the Texas Art Educators Association's Visual Art Scholastic Event held at Victoria High School on Feb. 23.

Both Sarah and Marissa received the highest rating of 4 at the Regional level which enabled them to advance to Area VASE.

Sarah's entry was an acrylic painting that was a self-portrait called The Magenta Gloom.

Marissa chose to enter a pen and ink drawing entitled Friends. Each young lady received a medal for advancing to Area VASE.

"I am very proud of both of these young artists. Their artwork speaks for itself," says instructor Gay Joines. "This was Marissa's first time to participate and Sarah's second. Both ladies had to go through an interview where they answered questions about art elements and techniques used as well as inspiration and personal expression."
