Bulldogs double up Tigers by 18-9 score

      SWEENY - Sweeny built a commanding early 11-2 lead and finished with a 18-9 win over Wharton Friday night at Bennet-Outlar Field. Wharton batters totaled 13 hits and threatened in every inning but Sweeny took advantage of several fielding errors.

Lady Tigers drop 1-0 heartbreaker to Sweeny
      SWEENY - Sweeny's Candice Carter stepped on home plate in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 1-0 win over Wharton in Friday night's District 24- 3A contest. It was pitching duel for six innings until Wharton's Jael Ramirez ran into a tough time in the final frame.

Lady Bulldogs still perfect in District 27-2 standings
      WALLIS - Boling's softball team picked up a 9-4 win over Brazos in Friday afternoon's District 27-2A game at Lady Cougar Field. The Lady Bulldogs improved to a perfect 5-0 in league play and was scheduled to host county rival East Bernard on Tuesday.

Brahmarettes survive scare from Van Vleck

      EAST BERNARD - East Bernard's softball team got all they could handle in Friday's District 27-2A game against Van Vleck at Koym Field. The Brahmarettes scratched out runs in the third and fourth inning to come away with a 2-0 win over the Lady Leopards.

Wharton track teams run into stiff competition
      EL CAMPO - Wharton's boys and girls track teams ran into some stiff competition at Friday's Ricebird Relays. The boys team finished 10th with only 12 points and the girls team finished eighth with 15.5 points. Tiger Courtney Taylor finished second in the triple jump with a 43-foot effort.

Boling girls track team takes 3rd
      VAN VLECK - Boling's girls track team finished third in Friday's Leopard Relays held at Burl McKinney Stadium. Columbia athletes totaled up 158 points to take the meet championship. Host Van Vleck was second with 125 points and the Lady Bulldogs finished with 89 points.

Alvin sweeps out Pioneers in doubleheader
      ALVIN - WCJC's baseball team dropped it's first Region XIV South Zone series of the season after being swept by Alvin Saturday afternoon at Phillips Field. The Dolphins prevailed by 14-10 and 11-2 scores. WCJC won last Wednesday's first game of the series 12-2.

      VAN VLECK - The Boling boys track team finished sixth in Friday's Leopard Relays held at Burl McKinney Stadium. Host Van Vleck totaled 176 points to take the meet championship.
