Tickets still available for chamber banquet You still have time to attend the Wharton Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture banquet if you have not purchased a ticket or a table yet. The 89th annual Banquet will be Tuesday, March 11, at the Wharton Community Civic Center. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m. and the meal starts promptly at 7 p.m. Joe Waldrop, an acc omplished musician and band director at Wharton County Junior College, will present an entertaining musical program with his wife, Dixie, also an accomplished musician. Waldrop directs the Pioneer Concert Band, WCJC Jazz Ensemble, teaches music theory, ear training and sight singing and applied lesson on percussion and woodwinds. In a more serious note, our banquet will honor Joe and Merle Hudgins. Merle is being named the county's official historian and Joe the official archeologist. They will be presented a resolution from the Wharton County Commissioners Court declaring them such at the banquet. We will also be honoring the Business Person of the Year. The honoree is a secret! Tickets are $30 each and you can buy them by coming by the chamber office at 225 N. Richmond Road or contact a board member, or just call us at 532- 1862 to reserve a space. We are also selling entire table silver sponsorships. To have your own waiter, and other perks, you can obtain Gold and Platinum event sponsorships. |
