Checking under the hood
Wharton firefighters aim a fire hose toward the front of a smoldering car while trying to get the hood open to reach the heart of the fire. The fire occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday along Boling Highway, near Grace Community Fellowship. The Pontiac Firebird was found engulfed by flames - apparently from mechanical problems - by the time firfi.ghters arrived. They quickly extinguished the fire, but the car was totaled.
