Diet and medications topic of health class
Food/drug interactions, disorders part of class

The Council for Health Education and Development has been retained by the Houston- Galveston Area Council/Area Agency on Aging to provide a free four-hour class in Wharton County.

The class is designed to improve the understanding of individuals, co-workers or family caregivers on how diet and medications interact.

The class will be led by a registered dietitian and speech/language pathologist.

The information provided will focus on food and drug interactions, classification of drugs, signs and symptoms of concern, talking to a pharmacist and doctor, feeding problems and medications, types of disorders and their affect on nutrition and safety tips.

It will be held at the Wharton Civic Center, 1924 N. Fulton in the O'Quinn Room on Saturday, March 8.

It will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Snacks will be provided and participants are encouraged to bring a lunch and dress comfortably.

Certificates will be issued upon completion of the class.

The deadline for making a reservation for this free program is March 6 to allow for preparing the certificates and educational materials.
