WHS Tennis team prevails over Foster in dual matches

      Wharton's tennis team took 10 of 19 matches from Foster in Saturday's dual competition at the WCJC Kelly Tennis Center. Foster had beat Wharton 13-6 in dual matches in January. "This was a huge win for us," said Wharton coach Roben Eller.

      HOUSTON - Fielding errors proved costly for Wharton's baseball team in the Houston Christian Tournament completed on Saturday night. Wharton dropped a 6-1 decision to Beaumont Westbrook in a game played Thursday at Tiger Field.

      Wharton's boys track team finished third in Saturday's Tiger Relays held at Tiger Stadium. Sealy athletes totaled 156 points to take the team championship. Boling boys edge out EB for Ganado golf tourney crown
      GANADO - Boling boy's golf team edged out Wharton County rival and 27-2A foe East Bernard for the H. B. Benold Invitational Tournament championship Monday at the Mustang Creek Country Club. Boling finished with an 18-hole team total of 355 and East Bernard recorded a 356.

Flynn, Ragston play in EC tourney
      EL CAMPO - Wharton golfers Shea Flynn and Quiera Ragston played in Monday's El Campo Invitational Tournament held at the El Campo Country Club. Flynn finished with an 18-hole individual total of 112 and it ranked 15th among the 45 golfers competing.

Lady Tiger softballers resume schedule
      Wharton's softball team resumed it's non-district schedule on Tuesday with a road game against Bay City. The Lady Tigers scheduled game against Danbury on Friday was canceled because of rain. Wharton had dropped a 10-0 decision to Bellville last Tuesday.

      The Wharton and Boling girls track teams competed in Saturday's Tiger Relays at Tiger Stadium. No point standings were submitted.       YOAKUM - East Bernard's softball team improved to 4-0 on the season after picking up a 1-0- win over Class 3A Yoakum Friday night at Lady Bulldog Field. "We played solid and the kids put the ball in play," said EB coach Amy Bush.

Wharton, EB athletes to lift at regional
      Three Wharton and two East Bernard athletes will compete in this week's Region IV Texas High School Powerlifting Association Championships. The girls meet will be held Thursday at Palacios High school and Brahmarette Myrna Olvera will compete in the 198- pound weight class.

Bulldogs dealt 8-1 loss by St Paul
      NEWGULF - Boling's baseball team slipped to 2-0 on the season after dropping a 8-1 decision to Shiner St. Paul Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Field. St. Paul jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first, picked up two more runs in the second and one in the third to go up 7-0.

      WCJC's baseball team took two out of three games from Laredo in the team's opening South Zone series over the weekend at Tiger Field. The Pioneers won Saturday's first game of a doubleheader 3-2 but the Palominos won the second game in 11 innings by a 4-3 score.

      ROSENBERG - Wharton's tennis team competed in Friday's Foster Invitational Tournament. "This was a good tournament for us," said Wharton coach Roben Eller. "The competition was strong and every player was able to play four matches.

      EAST BERNARD - East Bernard's baseball team evened it's season record to 1-1 after beating Sealy 6-0 Saturday afternoon at Koym Field Junior pitcher Cameron Orsak went the distance for the Brahmas, giving up only one hit and striking out eight.
