Police Blotter clarification An item in this past Saturday's Police Blotter apparently raised unnecessary concern among the Wharton business community. It stated that a theft had been reported at Harrison Real Estate Storage, 1717 N. Richmond Road, between Feb. 14 and Feb. 19, and that $1,500 worth of jewelry had been stolen. That led people to believe that one of the storage units had been broken into, Wharton real estate agent Raymond Harrison Jr. told the Journal-Spectator. But that was untrue, he said. Instead, copper tubing - valued at $1,500 - had been ripped off an exterior air-conditioning unit, Harrison said. The error apparently stemmed from the way the police department filed the case. Though a closer perusal of police records supported Harrison's assertion, copper tubing is actually listed under the "Jewelry and Precious Metals" property type designation. The Journal-Spectator regrets the error and any confusion it may have caused. |
